Baby Zac

Little Zac has been neglected in the posting department. He is about 3 1/2 months old and a sweet baby. I can't remember what he weighed at his 2 month visit but it was somewhere around 12 pounds and he was in the 75 percentile for height and weight. Just after his two month visit he had a sleep study and a pH probe which is really just as bad as it looks. He did not sleep much which kind of defeats the whole idea of a sleep study. The room was small and hot and they did not have a cirb for him to sleep in so he was baricaded into a normal bed. Every time he would fall asleep one of those blasted leads would be out of place and the tech would have to come in and replace it and in the process wake poor Zac up. The study was done and we knew we would not get any results until after our vaction so I just put it out of my mind. In the meantime Zac pulled out his feeding tube and started eating full feedings without any problem (I credit his vital stimulation therapy for the amazing turn around) and sleeping much better. While on vacation he started eating 8 oz a feeding and sleeping 8 hours at night. We did get results of the pH probe while we were on vacations which showed that he had pretty bad reflux. Trevor brought up his new medicine when he came to Idaho and Zac started sleeping even longer at night and being much happier durning the day.

The cranio facial pediatrician gave us the results of his sleep study which showed 2 epidodes of sleep apnea but his oxygen levels never went below 85%. He still wants us to follow up with ENT so see if it is an airway problem but I think that it was related to his reflux and now that we have that under control he is sleeping great.

He is a really happy guy most of the time. He loves to be talked to and has really found his voice and can "talk" back. He can roll from his belly to his back and he is trying to figure out how to use his hands. It is easy to get a smile out of him and he is even starting to laugh. He moved into his room with Emma this weekend and is sleeping great! We love him and can't imagine life without him.

He reminds me so much of abbi. So cute! I had no idea that you were having issues with this little man. I'm glad things are starting to get a little better.

i got to thinking about those EEG's. Didn't you have to keep him up all night so he could sleep through the study? That means you weren't getting any rest at all! I'm not sure if they make you do that or not anymore, but I used to work in the same department where they did EEG's and so I remember moms coming in like zombies because they had to keep their kids up all night. And then he didn't even sleep for the study? how dare him!

Tamar, you are one amazing mom to have handled all you have with your babies. The pictures of them all hooked up is so scary/sad. It just makes my heart ache. We are SO glad everything has calmed down and everyone is so healthy!
