TOO CUTE!!!

Abby was in rare form and we actually got it on tape. Sorry it is so dark.

Halloween for FHE

For FHE this week we made Halloween cupcakes and carved our pumpkin. Emma insisted on having a scary pumpkin face so here is the finished product. I think that Trevor did a great job. This is Abby's pumpkin. You can see her mean face in the middle of the pumpkin. She was so excited that I let her use a Sharpie. She has not been able to touch markers since the Zebra episode this summer.
This is Emma's pumpkin. She made a pretty happy face for someone who was so insistent that we carve a scary mean face.
The finished product. The girls were so excited to watch the pumpkin "glow".
Emma really enjoyed making cupcakes with me. She enjoyed eating them even more. (Yes she has a sticker on her head.) Thanks Grandma G for the package.

That is the Mommy!

So the other day I was coloring some pictures for a family home evening lesson. The girls were at the table with me watching. When I got to a picture of three sheep they started assigning them roles. They do this at the zoo too, if there is more than one animal they start discussing whether it is the mommy or the daddy or the baby. Any way I started coloring the sheep and they started deciding which one was which. Emma pointed to one of the sheep and said "That is the mommy because she is laying down!" I tried not to get my feeling hurt and then I just started to laugh because she pointed to another sheep and said "That one is the kid because it is always eating, and that one is the Daddy because he is taking care of his family." She got the baby and the daddy right so the laying down mommy must be right to.

I Have Been Tagged!

I got tagged by my friend Megan and I have been putting this off because I can't think of anything very interesting about myself but here goes...

Here are the rules:
1. Each person list 6 facts/habits about themselves.
2. At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names, and then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog for the rules.

1. I LOVE to read. I don't do it very often because I may as well fall off the face of the earth because all I do is read. That is actually one of the reasons it has taken me to long to respond to this tag. My current obsession is the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. I finished book #3 yesterday and I am totally sad that the next book does not come out until next fall. It is probably a good thing though because my house, kids, husband, calling, etc...probably could not handle me falling of the face of the earth again any time soon.
2. I have a secret desire to sing in a Broadway play. I don't have the voice or the nerves but I have always loved musicals. I saw Phantom of the Opera in junior high and I had the whole thing memorized. I would pretend to be Christine. I would sing in my bedroom, in the shower, and any other place where I thought that no one could hear me. I have grown up by the obsession has not changed. Whether it is Eliza in "My Fair Lady", Elfaba in "Wicked", or Maria in "The Sound of Music" I wish I could be them and I still sing at the top of my lungs when no one is listening.
3. I hate feet!!! I don't know where it came from but I can barely stand to have my feet touched, especially my toes. Other peoples feet are even worse. When I was in college my roommate knew about my strange dislike and she made a ceramic foot in her pottery class. She brought it home and put it on my bed. It still gives me the creeps to think about it six year later.
4. When I am tired I talk like an auctioneer. Pretty much nothing can keep me quiet. It started when I worked nights at the hospital and all the girls would sit around and chat to stay awake. I would come home in the mornings and the talking would continue. Trevor could not shut me up. I would stay awake until he would leave for school and I did not have any one to talk to and then I would pretty much pass out where ever I was.
5. I LOVE the ocean. I am happiest sitting in the sun with a good book and the sound of the waves crashing.
6. I want to open a flower shop. Some day when we have money laying around (ha ha ha) I want my own little flower store. I want to do weddings and parties. I really love flowers and I would love the excuse to be surrounded by them every day. Plus it would give me an excuse to let the Martha Stewart that is hiding in me come out.

There you go! I tag Karina, Lindsay, Heather, Maren, Holly, and Melissa.

I'm BIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This blog entry will hopefully give you a taste of Abby's attitude as of late. She is on a kick lately where every day she talks about her birthday and how she is going to be three after Christmas. Hardly a day passes that I don't have to go through the family birthday order..."first it uncle Bud, then Aunt Lindsay, then Uncle John, then cousin Ashlyn, then daddy, then cousin Ava, then Christmas and then Abby!" I am pretty sure that she can recite the order, she just likes to hear me say it instead. Well anyway today she was coloring at the table with Emma and our neighbor Nevaeh who is 4. All of the sudden I hear screaming coming from downstairs and Emma calling up to me that Abby is saying that she is bigger than Nevaeh and Emma. I am a little annoyed because we have been through this about a million times. I call(yell) down the stairs "Emma you already know who is bigger, stop arguing about it!" I thought that this was the end of it but 10 seconds later Abby comes running upstairs yelling "I am bigger!!!" I made the mistake of telling her that she was not bigger than Emma and she LOST IT! She threw herself of the floor and stared screaming "I am bigger, I am bigger!!!" at the top of her lungs. She did not stop until I went through a list of all her friends that she is bigger than. I think that there has been a little bit too much talk lately about how big Emma is now that she is in Kindergarten. I think that we need to make a point of pointing out Abby's good qualities, if only to reduce the number of tantrums we have to deal with on a daily basis.

Wrestle Mania

I decided tonight that I don't really need boys. Not that I would mind but my girls have enough boy in them to keep my busy enough. When Trevor walks in the door each night one of the first questions that he gets is "Can we play tickle monster?!? Trevor is such a good sport and most night after dinner he lets the girls jump all over him and gives them a good tickeling.
Here is Abby after she took a running jump and landed on Trevor.
It is amazing to me that the girls actually like to be tickeled. I can not stand to be tickled. I am happy to sit on the couch and listen to the laughing/screaming.
Here is Emma flying through the air. Notice the headband flying off her hair. She really got a good running start. It is amazing to me that nobody has been injured. Tonight Abby got a really good kick to the face and I can't believe the abuse the Trevor takes but they really do have a great time.

Pumpkin Patch

Today Abby and I took a fun trip to a place called Freddy Farms. The preschool that Emma went to last year was having a field trip and the teacher was nice enough to let Abby and me join in. The trip got off to a rough start. Abby for some unknown reason decided to be grumpy. She would not even look at the camera. She just sat on my lap for the whole hay ride with a frown on her face.Things did get much better once we got to the pumpkin patch. Abby took off on her search for the prefect pumpkin. She was actually pretty easy to please and the very first one she touched went into her sack
What a cutie. She really can by fun when she decides that she wants to be.
Me and Abby. We are really enjoying our time together while Emma is at school. We miss Emma but Abby is doing so much better than I thought that she would. I think that she is just glad that she does not have to share her toys.
After the pumpkin picking we got back into the tractor and headed over to the corn maze. By the time that we got to the maze it was starting to rain. Within about 30 seconds it started to POUR!!! We headed back across the parking lot which had amazingly turned into a ragging river. By the time we got to the little store for shelter we were soaked. The pictures do not do it justice. I don't think that my shoes will be dry for a few days. As you can see Abby was very unhappy to be wet.
Luckily ice cream cures everything!
