What We Have Been Up To

Trevor is on a two week externship at LSU and we are doing our best at keeping busy so that we don't miss him too much! Yesterday we went to the pool and had a great time. I was a little (ALOT) nervous about having three kids at the pool but it went fine. Kyle slept in his car seat(He DID NOT like the water, he screamed every time I tried to put his feet in) for part of the time and the girls had a great time going back and forth between the big pool and the little one. Here is Emma on one of her rare moments out of the water. She loves being in the water even if the temperature was a little on the chilly side.

Abby wore her goggles most of the day which I thought was pretty funny. She sure has personality.

This is Kyle before we went to the pool. He is all greasy from the sun block. I did not want his head to burn so I put sun block all over his head which made his hair stick straight up.

Emma also had her school fair this past week. We all went in the afternoon and had a good time playing games and eating cotton candy. I wish I would have gotten a picture of them eating the cotton candy but it disappeared too quickly.

This is Emma with all her "loot" She won the Eagles cheerleader bear at the spinning wheel game with lucky #14. She loves the bear and has named her Golden.

Our local library had a snake day. I did not think that the girls would be very interested but they loved it. The man doing the presentation had over 40 snakes in his house and he brought about 10 to share with the kids. He taught them a lot of interesting facts about snakes and held their attention for close to 45 minutes! At the end he let the kids line up and touch one of the snakes. Emma was a little hesitant at first but she said they felt smooth and hard.

Abby was really excited to touch the snake. She said it felt hard and warm.

At the beginning of the week we went with some friends to the zoo. We enjoyed perfect weather and the kids even got to ride the camel.

The kids had a lot of fun on this ride. We usually don't do it because the line is so long but we lucked out and did not have to wait at all.

What cute kids! We have had a good week staying busy. Thank goodness for warm weather and great friends.

We took this video a couple of weeks ago. Although Kyle is a very happy kid it is hard to get him to laugh. On this night we started making funny noises at him and he just started laughing.

Happy Mother's Day

I love my Mom and here are some reasons why... 1. She is a great Grandma. The girls love her and can't wait to visit this summer.
2. She is an awesome cook! Growing up we had homemade dinners every night. I know that she did not always enjoy cooking for such picky eaters but we always ate together and I think that is one of the reasons we are so close today. We may have been picky when it came to the main course but her desserts were always eaten right up.
3. She lets me call her at work even when she is busy just to chat. There is nothing like talking to your Mom. She always lets me whine but also has a way of making me feel like things are going to work out just fine.
4. She plays the piano. This is something that I wish I would have stuck with so that I could play the piano for my kids. I love singing Christmas songs together around the piano.
5. She took me to the beach and shared her love of the sun. I am pretty sure it is her fault that I would spend my life at the beach if I could.
6. She is dedicated to her callings in the church. To my knowledge she has never turned down a calling and her example of faith has strengthened my willingness to serve.
7. She is young and pretty. I can not tell you how many times we have gone places and people ask us if we are sisters. I hope that I inherited some of her youth and beauty.
8. She is so patient. I was not the easiest kid to teach a new concept to. When I did not get something right the first time I tended to get very frustrated and give up. Mom did not give up on me. She taught me that I could learn anything if I kept trying. So has also taught me patience in waiting upon the Lord for promised blessings. I know because of her example of faith that the Lord ALWAYS keeps His promises even if it does not happen on our time frame.
9. She taught me right from wrong and that there is usually no middle ground. She never varied from her opinion and expected her children to do the same.
10. She understands the important role of being a Mother. I always knew the value that she placed on her role as a mom. She knows that there is nothing more important in this life than her partnership with the Lord in raising righteous children.
11. She raised 4 girls who all have testimonies of the truthfulness of the gospel and try every day to be the kind of person that their mom would be pleased with.
12. She was vital in the formation of my testimony. I am so grateful for the family home evenings and family prayer where I was introduced to the sweet companionship of the Spirit that always abided in our home.
Happy Mother's Day mom! I wish that I could be there to celebrate with you and give you a big hug. Thank you for your tremendous example and love. I know that I am the woman I am today because of you. I love you.

8 months (+ a couple of days)

Wonder boy is 8 months old and still a happy guy. He has had some recent trouble with reflux but he has remained pretty cheerful through it all. He has gotten VERY good at ripping his tubes off his face so we have gotten some more pictures of his cute (trying to become chubby) cheeks.

This is Kyle's favorite toy. He likes the sound that it makes when he moves it.

He is also getting stronger every day. He actually enjoys spending time on his tummy which is so different from a couple of months ago when he would scream and bang his head into the floor every time I put him on his stomach. He can roll to his right but has not quite figured out his left side.

Trevor is making sure that Kyle is getting an early intro to sports. Here is Kyle hugging his first baseball bat.

Kyle also loves to eat. He has liked everything we have tried so far except peas. He is starting to show interest in the food that he sees us eating and he loves to try to drink water from my glass. Now that he can roll he gets wrapped up in his tubes and every morning I find him twisted up and chewing on his tubes. He loves funny noises, the latest one that makes him laugh is when we bark at him like a dog(video coming). He still does not do belly laughs, it is almost like he is doing his best NOT to laugh and it comes out in little sputters, it is pretty funny. We found out yesterday that Kyle needs glasses. His prescription is almost the same as Trevors which is pretty much blind. Prematurity along with laser eye surgery has brought on the Griffitts blindness a little early.
